How do you train a puppy that was previously abused without making it too timid?
Q. I aopted a 5 month old pup and I need advise on house training and obedience training that wont make her any more timid than she is. She is vvery shy and cowers when scolded, how can I encorage her to play and explore while discouraging bad behavior? Any tips you have for training or dealing with abused animals let me know please!

A. With lots of love and patience. She needs to know she is loved and safe. Pay very close attention to her schedule and take her outside - stay with her until she goes. Praise her and praise her some more when she does a good job. As she realizes that she is safe, she'll want to please you. Tone of voice worked for me. When my Abby did well, my tone of voice was fun and light. When she didn't, a deeper tone got her attention. Once she realized that I wasn't going to hurt her, and she was safe - all I had to do was lower my voice a little and she'd be right there wanting to do whatever I was instructing her. Is it ethically correct to use sexually abused children as witnesses in court?
Q. Why and why not? (Consider the fact that there are cases where children thought they were sexually abused when in fact weren't, and their parents are stigmatized as child molesters.) If you have a page on the internet please provide it.

A. This is just me talking, but I think it depends on the child, and the case. If the case can be made against someone without the child's testimony, of course the kid shouldn't have the pressure of appearing in court. The age of the child is also a factor, and the circumstances surrounding the 'abuse'. If they were abused and they are needed in court, yes. Nobody wants those people running around on the street. If they weren't abused, they may have to appear in court anyways, to prove their parents innocent (though that wasn't their intention.) It's not fair to the parents, but there's really no other way to determine the truth, unless it can come out before the trial.

A. They don't wanna be near a male or a women bc they're insecure of who ever sexually abused them. They're quiet, reserved to themself. Usually dress dirty, not caring about looks. Bad temper, hating the world. Negative about everything, depression could fall under like drugs etc. They usually isolate themself from people, feeling alone.
